Sub-Committees

Each Steering Committee Member chairs or co-chairs a sub-committee or council.

 

Inspiring Futures

This sub-committee is responsible for (i) engaging diverse volunteers especially leaders belonging to a racialized, marginalized or immigrant/minority communities, and women leaders in STEM, finance, and law; while (ii) ensuring that the programming is sustainable and impactful.

The sub-committee will help to recruit, interview and onboard programming volunteers and provide input into the Inspiring Futures Program.

Inspiring Work

The focus of this sub-committee is to provide internship project examples and frameworks, and experiential learning workshop and partnership ideation.

The sub-committee will also help onboard internship mentors and help prepare students for their placements including individual resume building and interview practice (includes interview request and follow up communications).

Engagement

The purpose of the Engagement sub-committee is to increase engagement from donors, partners, volunteers, and participants. The committee will help to develop The MINA Project marketing and communications plan, and overall content.

 

Development

The purpose of the Development sub-committee is to help solicit corporate, foundation, group, government and individual grants and donations, and oversee revenue generating events.

The sub-committee will take a leadership role for planning and coordinating revenue-generating strategies.

Strategy

The purpose of the Strategy sub-committee is to help guide the strategic vision of The MINA Project. The sub-committee will be responsible for liaising with the Advisory Board and other advisory councils.

Governance | Finance

The Governance sub-committee is responsible for ensuring the compliance of applicable laws and regulations and that The MINA Project is following its own terms of reference.

The purpose of the Finance sub-committee is for financial oversight. Facilitating budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.

 

Advisory Teams

 

Advisory Board

 

The directive of the Advisory Board is to utilize their expertise and networks to help steer and promote The MINA Project.  The Advisory Board will include industry and academic experts providing support to the Steering Committee and wider charitable activities.

 

Community Council

 

The Community Council will influence the strategy and direction of The MINA Project. They will do this by providing feedback, thought leadership, co-creation, and opinion to help develop programs, evaluate propositions and/or assess charitable activities. The Community Council will comprise of key partners, stakeholders and thought leaders. Community Council members will be selectively recruited to ensure they are representative of the participant base, volunteer base, funders, and partners.

 

NextGEN Council

 

The NextGEN Council will provide advice on strategic and programming issues through the lens of a younger generation. The council will comprise of young professionals and students in their late teens, 20s, and 30’s committed to inspiring future generations of marginalized youth by telling their own professional stories, providing experiential learning and internship opportunities, and helping to raise funds for sustainable programming.  The council will organize social events to strengthen networking opportunities to promote charitable activities and act as peer mentors to our high school participants being one or two steps removed from high school themselves. (ie: university | post graduate | starting careers)
